Worry about NOW, not THEN

You know what, I think I have found something to write about... Just browsing through the news and there is all this controversy about the civil war being brought back up... (I'll be honest with all of you, I have no idea where this is going to go, we all might end up crying or laughing or just plain irritated...)

Any who... Over the entire course of the summer I watched, as most of everyone in this country did, the statues from the past being ripped down because they were 'racist' or they 'owned slaves'. There was so much being said about our country's past, it was like there wasn't enough drama going on right now in our country that we had to dive right into all our past leaders lives and how they lived.

We as a people have to stand up for what is going on right now! I don't care if Jim Bob from 1801 owned slaves and made a great profit from it. How about the John Doe that lives right now and has slaves? John Doe's slaves are children, or an entire family that was smuggled into the country, or his slaves could be his own family. We are so wanting drama in our lives that we forget what is truly going on in this world. Slavery is still going on, we just turn a blind eye so we don't have to see it. It wasn't so long ago I saw in the news that a man from the U.K. had a bunch of slaves for years. (However, I found it kind of odd that it said these people were forced to live in campers without running water, yet they had tv's, dvd players, and I believe cellphones in the photos that I seen). I saw another article about slaves being held here in the U.S. yet there is no controversy over it. But low and behold George Washington owned slaves so therefore he should have never been our first president.

We as a people should stand up for what is going on with our world right now. I don't care what happened 100-200 years ago. (I love history, favorite subject, but we should learn from history not try to destroy it). We are so worried about all this other stuff when truly we should worry about what is going on right now. Perhaps if we would stop worrying about history, and perhaps learn that of course slavery is bad and realize that it is still going on. We should put our effort into the world that we have today. Create a future that owns no slaves.

Instead of all these fears and worries about why the civil war happened maybe we should take a look into the sex slaves that are being abused and tortured, (https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/25/us/raid-sex-trafficking-thailand.html), child slaves, (http://www.endslaverynow.org/learn/slavery-today/child-labor), immigrant slavery, (https://www.alternet.org/immigration/21st-century-version-slavery-widespread-america)... There are so many different forms of slavery in the world today, not only in the U.S. but everywhere. I think we as a people should focus our issues not on slavery issues in the past, but what is going on right in front of us. We are just too blind to notice that it is going on right in front of us.

So before you try to judge someone that has already done their time on this earth for something that they did before you were even born, think about the person or child who is suffering today... How can you help them?
